Circle in a Square - tutorial

I am doing a baby blanket, for a baby girl. I found this lovely pattern on the book: 200 Crochet Blocks (the text is not the same as the book):

1- chain 8 and join in a circle
2- chain 3; 15 TR (total: 16 tr)
3- change color - chain 5, 1 TR 2 chain, on each previous tr (total: 16 tr)
4- sl stitch to 2 chain space: 3 chain,1 tr, 1 chain, 2 TR 1 chain on each following 2 chain space
5 - change color: join on 1 chain space: 1 dc, 3 chain and more 2x; **1 dc 6 chain, 1 dc 3 chain 3x - repeat ** till end;
6- sl stitch to 3 chain space: 3 chain, 2 TR, (repeat 2x), **5TR, 2ch, 5TR on 6 chain space, 3TR (repeat 2x) - do ** till end.
